FAQ (answered by Ashley)

What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process. We’ll begin by exploring your history, patterns, and what matters most to you. This foundation builds the trust and understanding we need to work together effectively. Depending on your needs, sessions may include reflection, practical tools, or deeper trauma processing. You set the pace, and I’m here to offer support, insight, and strategies to help you move toward your goals.

The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some come for short-term support during a specific challenge. Others engage in longer-term work for deeper growth and integration. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy continues to meet your evolving needs.

How often do I attend therapy?

Therapy frequency is tailored to your needs, but most people start with weekly sessions to build trust, momentum, and steady progress. Regular weekly meetings create a strong foundation and allow for consistent practice of new skills, which is especially important when working through trauma, anxiety, or depression.

Over time, sessions may shift to biweekly or monthly as therapeutic goals are met and quality of life improves. Consistency—regardless of frequency—is key to lasting growth.

If attendance becomes irregular or your needs change, we’ll discuss adjustments together to keep therapy effective and aligned with your goals.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are scheduled for 60 minute time slots and generally last between 53 and 57 minutes. This gives us space to wrap up thoughtfully while respecting the time needed between appointments.

Do you offer sliding scale options?

Yes. Self-pay rates are based off of annual household income. Here is the breakdown:

Household Income Session Fee

Under $40,000        $90

$40,000 – $59,999   $105

$60,000 – $79,999   $120

$80,000 – $99,999   $135

$100,000 and above  $150

What’s your cancellation and late policy?

I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. Here’s how my policy works:

- First late cancellation (less than 24 hours) is free

- Second late cancellation is $50

- Third and any after are $75

- You may also use up to 3 sick-day cancellations per 12 months at no charge (based on individual starting date)

This policy works to balance flexibility with fairness—allowing for life’s unpredictability while respecting everyone’s time and the structure of therapy.

What insurance do you accept?

How do you handle communication between sessions?

You can message anytime through the secure client portal. I read all messages and updates between sessions sent through the client portal, but typically do not respond outside scheduled appointments. Any additional support or communication will be discussed and planned during session. Clients may call or text Praxa at 216-714-3184 for scheduling requests, changes, or questions. Messages are checked Monday through Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and are typically responded to by the next business day. Clients can also cancel appointments through the client portal or reminder emails at any time. Clients will be required to have access to the client portal and an active email address for all therapeutic updates and notifications.
